New for 2025/26 season, there is an option of purchasing Event Cancellation Insurance for your team's entry fee into Sarasota Cup.
For teams that purchase Event Cancellation Insurance here is how it works:
What does Event Cancellation Insurance cover?
Event cancellation insurance covers any weather-related conditions that cause an event to be canceled due to unsafe playing conditions such as heat, rain, ice, snow, hail, smoke, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
Full Refund for Pre-Tournament Cancellations:
If the tournament is canceled before the tournament starts due to weather-related conditions, your insured team will receive 100% of the non-refundable registration fee back. No questions asked.
Pro-Rated Refund for Mid-Tournament Cancellations:
If the tournament is forced to cancel after it has started, the insured team will receive a refund based on the number of games guaranteed versus the number of games played. This ensures you only pay for the games you've played and not a penny more. Teams are guaranteed three (3) games during the Florence Cup. Each game of the three (3) games is worth 33% of the entry fee. Any missed game means your insured team gets a 33% refund. Once the team has played their three (3) guaranteed games the event is considered complete from an insurance perspective, and the team is not eligible for any type of refund.
Insurance Fee & Purchase:
The cost of this insurance is 10% of the tournament registration fee. All refunds will be issued directly by Vertical Insurance. The Sarasota Cup collects none of the insurance premiums or profits from the sales of policies.
Adding Event Cancellation Team Coverage to your registration is a smart choice for safeguarding against the unexpected. Don’t let the possibility of weather-related cancellations disrupt your team’s plans or financial commitments.
Event Cancellation Insurance can be purchased up to 15 days prior to the event kickoff date.
How it Works:
Entry Fee Example: $825 - Insurance cost is $82.50 (10%)
If event is FULLY canceled:
The team receives a $825 refund from Vertical Insurance (insurance company)
If event is PARTIALLY canceled:
the team would receive a refund from VI based on the number of games guaranteed vs played. Your team played one (1) game - refund from Vertical Insurance = $550
For teams that DO NOT purchase Event Cancellation Insurance, here is the weather cancellation refund policy:
In the event that inclement weather forces the cancellation of all or part of the tournament, teams will receive a credit in the amount of a percentage of their paid entry fee. This credit is to be used on a future Sarasota Cup tournament (within one year), and will be given in the following increments:
- No games played = 75% credit
- One game played = 50% credit
- Two games played = 25% credit
